MSD8X Problems

Hello. I have a 256 MB SwissTech USB 2.0 drive (the one that come with the screwdrivers/wrench/wire-cutters/wire-strippers/etc all-in-one tool), and Windows won't let me change the sector/allocation size to 512 bytes. Basically, when I try to run MSD8X, it gives me the 1A0D error.

How do I format the drive to use 512 byte sectors?

Plus, this 512 byte limit theoretically limits the drive size to 32 megabytes...am I correct?

Not quite. :)

Your drive likely is 512 bytes/sector, but msd8x is reporting it incorrectly. This is a known problem with some drives and usb8x. A pre-release version of usb8x is at http://www.brandonw.net/usb8x.zip . It has improved support for those kinds of drives, and it should either fix it or give a more useful and accurate error message.

Bytes/sector is not the same as the size of the disk. Any size flash drive can be used, but a FAT16 partition is limited to 2GB.
